February 2006 Edition
Issue 2
Lincoln

In honor of Mr. Lincoln's birthday and in light of the James Frey controversy and "resume fib" of Radio Shack CEO David Edmondson, we're dedicating this issue to "honesty," which is always the best policy -- in life and business.
Some tips:
1. Never lie to the media!
2. Direct feedback (even when it's tough to give) is preferable to gossip or gobble-de-gook.
3. "The check is in the mail" is rarely a believable statement.
Hoping all theONswitch clients and colleagues had a wonderful -- and truthful -- February!

What is Reality Anyway?
Transformers: Trends & Facts That Create Our Future
Biggest Loser

According to Nielsen Media Research, "reality" shows currently account for about 56% of all American TV shows and for about 69% of all worldwide TV shows.

The Gallup Poll reports that nurses are the most honest professionals by a wide margin, with car salesmen and telemarketers appearing at the bottom of the list. Big surprise there!

Building Buzz: New Clients/New Work
Summer

The clients featured this month are all in summer-related businesses, whose peak marketing season is January to April.

Lakota is an overnight camp that's renting its facility out for business and family events this spring and fall. We developed their marketing strategy and created sales materials. S'mores anyone?

Everything Summer helps parents pick the right summer activities for kids/teens. We put up a new website, secured group speaking gigs (for working parents) at major companies and landed a feature article in Newsday and an NBC-TV appearance!

Career Explorations prepares high school students for "real life" with exciting summer internships. Their marketing campaign was developed to appeal to the kids, their parents, and intern mentors.
