love (and change) are in the air January/February 2010 Edition

Issue 44
Dear loyal reader:

Hands and HeartYes, it's a new year (and a new decade).  Change is inevitable.  30 Second Current took a much-needed respite in January and now sports a new look, new content, but the same pragmatic and irreverent attitude toward business and life.  We'll be publishing only six times a year now, but in-between, you'll get our new quick-read e-publication, Finger in Socket.  Everyone needs a jolt every now and then, right?

The power of relationships and community is more important than ever before, and in the spirit of the season, this issue is one big love fest -- so after you've finished reading, hug your customers and the other folks who helped you get through tough times.  Need inspiration Watch this video!

Warmly,

transformers: trends & facts
PluggedInAlthough we seem to love our devices, and the iPad launch was big news, let's not forget that real people live out there.

Adults currently spend 8% of their week online, according to this article. Facebook now has 350 million active users. And more than 50,000 registered applications now exist for Twitter.  Some predict that Foursquare will be the next Twitter.  (It's like human GPS.)

Speaking of place in the real world,  attendance at concerts is down but farmers markets are sprouting up nationwide, as are BarCamp events and Tweet-upsHope still exists for "live gatherings."
